Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 28, 2026

The short version: Your data is never sold, shared with advertisers, or used to train AI models. You control what you share, introductions are always opt-in, and you can delete your data at any time. We collect only what we need to help people connect.

1. Who We Are

Chummo ("we," "us," or "our") is an AI-powered community connection platform for workplaces, residential communities, coworking spaces, and campuses. Our service helps organizations create meaningful, repeated in-person connections among their members.

For privacy questions, contact us at: privacy@chummo.co

2. What We Collect

We collect only what is necessary to operate the service:

  • Account information: Name, email address, and organization.
  • Preference data: Schedule availability, activity preferences, energy levels, budget comfort, group size preferences, and social comfort levels. This is provided voluntarily during onboarding.
  • Interaction data: Whether you accepted or declined a group suggestion, and post-meeting pulse check responses (did this feel worth your time, would you meet again).
  • Usage data: Standard technical logs — page views, session length, feature usage — used only to improve the product.

We do not collect your location in real time. We do not access your calendar, contacts, or messages without your explicit permission.

3. How We Use Your Data

  • To form compatible small groups and send connection suggestions
  • To improve matching quality over time based on your feedback
  • To provide administrators with anonymized community health metrics
  • To send invites, reminders, and follow-up messages (which you can opt out of at any time)
  • To operate, maintain, and improve the Chummo platform

We never use your data to train AI models beyond improving your own matching experience. We never sell your data. We never share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

4. How Matching Works

Our AI uses your stated preferences to suggest compatible people and plans. It does not use inferred data, browsing history, or social media profiles. Matching is based only on what you choose to share during onboarding and your responses to suggestions.

All introductions are opt-in. You will never be added to a group or have your name shared with another member without accepting a suggestion first.

5. Who Can See Your Information

  • Other members: Only your first name and any details you choose to share after accepting a group suggestion (e.g., preferred meeting time). Preference data and onboarding answers are never visible to other members.
  • Admins: Organization administrators can see anonymized participation data (e.g., "40% of new hires joined a group this month"). They cannot see individual conversation content, preference answers, or pulse check responses.
  • Chummo staff: Limited to what is needed to provide support and operate the service. All staff are bound by confidentiality agreements.
  • Third-party processors: We use a small number of trusted vendors (hosting, email delivery, payments) who are contractually prohibited from using your data for any purpose other than providing services to us.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you or your organization ends your subscription, we delete personal data within 90 days. Aggregated, anonymized metrics may be retained longer for product improvement.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Delete your data at any time — request via your account settings or email privacy@chummo.co
  • Opt out of any or all Chummo suggestions without deleting your account
  • Port your data in a machine-readable format
  • Object to any processing you believe is unlawful

These rights apply regardless of where you are located. GDPR and CCPA rights are fully honored.

8. Security

All data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest. We use industry-standard access controls, regular security reviews, and minimal data collection to reduce risk. We do not store payment card numbers — payments are processed by Stripe and governed by their security certifications.

9. Children

Chummo is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If we learn we have done so, we will delete it immediately.

10. Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes, we will notify you by email and update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the service after notice constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
